Don’t go back to WorkChoices Don’t go back to WorkChoices New Opposition leader, Tony Abbott plans to bring back WorkChoices if the Liberals are elected later this year. Mr Abbott has signaled he will unwind employee protections in the name of a ‘flexible’ labour market. Just after Australian workers started to go forwards under the Fair Work laws, the Liberals want to go backwards.

Tony Abbott will bring back WorkChoices Tony Abbott will bring back WorkChoices Tony Abbott was a key Minister in the former Liberal Government that introduced WorkChoices. Now, he wants to bring back WorkChoices. He just won’t call it that. At a recent meeting with business executives, Mr Abbott said he will remove protection from unfair dismissal for workers in small businesses and bring back individual contracts.

Young workers face Liberals’ pay cuts Young workers face Liberals’ pay cuts Young workers were among the worst victims of WorkChoices. They were sacked unfairly and lost pay and conditions from individual contracts. Now, Liberal leader Tony Abbott has promised employers they will be able to negotiate job contracts that reduce the minimum young workers are paid.

Workers to lose unfair dismissal protection? Workers to lose unfair dismissal protection? The Rudd Government banned AWA individual contracts and has given workers protection from being unfairly dismissed. But Liberal leader Tony Abbott wants to undo these changes. He has promised to return the worst of WorkChoices, allowing unfair dismissals for employees in small businesses and bringing back individual contracts.
