ACTU National Union Awards 2011
The ACTU invites you nominate your best and fairest over the last year (2011) for an ACTU National Union Award. The award categories include Delegate(s) of the year, Organiser of the year, Jennie George Award – for contributions to women’s advancement in unions, Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Awards – Union & Individual, Best Workplace Campaign and more (see download). The closing date for receipt of nominations is Monday, 27 February 2012. If you know of a campaign or individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the union movement in 2011 but who doesn’t fit into an existing category please consider sending in a nomination for a special mention. Please send your entries to Michelle Ryan.

ACTU Congress 2012
Plans are now underway for next year’s ACTU Congress. The event will be held at the Sydney Convention Centre, and the 2012 congress will encompass industrial policies, social/economic policies; campaigning and organising for growth. ACTU Congress is held every three years. It is effectively a parliament for working people, where delegates debate and vote on policies regarding the workplace, rights, and campaigns to improve wages, conditions and quality of life for Australian workers and their families. This process sets the union agenda for a further three years. Pencil the date below into your diaries.
