  Our review and consideration of these submissions has not altered our view that our claim for an increase of $26 per week for the lowest paid workers.  
  Equal opportunity in the workplace is an important issue for our members and we welcome the opportunity to make this submission to the Senate Committee on the Equal Opportunity for Women in the Workplace Amendment Bill 2012.  
  We seek a $26 per week increase in the NMW and all award rates of pay up to and including the C10 tradespersons’ rate and its equivalents in awards. We seek a 3.8% increase to all higher award rates of pay.

Submission to the 2012-13 Federal Budget

The ACTU submits that the over-riding priority of the 2012-13 Budget must be to protect and sustain jobs in Australia.
 
  We are keen to see the consolidation process not only maintain current protections, but strengthen and improve the anti-discrimination legislation for the most vulnerable members of our society.  
  Civil aviation laws grant Australian airlines a number of privileges, including exclusive access to certain international air routes. In return, Australian airlines are required to be Australian owned, controlled, based, and responsible to...  
  The ACTU has consistently advocated for the introduction of paid secondary carer’s leave as an integral component of the paid parental leave scheme. This submission makes comments on the proposed Dad and Partner Pay model.  
 
Submission to Asbestos Management Review

Asbestos has been the cause of much suffering, disease and death in Australia. It is a dangerous carcinogen that injures and kills workers, family members and affects entire communities.
 
  This submission focuses on the matters set out in the chapter of the draft report on ‘workplace regulation’.  
  We outline the case for the key changes recommended in the Howells Report around the new penalty and enforcement provisions, and address some of the arguments that may be made.  
  The ACTU recommends that the dialogues be restructured in such a way as to improve accountability and to ensure that they engender real value, with measurable indicators of success.  
  This brief ACTU submission focuses on the economic performance of the retail sector particularly in relation to the industrial regulation of the industry.  
  Maintaining paid employment and financial independence is critical to women and their children successfully breaking the cycle of domestic violence.  
  The ACTU asks that the Fair Work Australia Minimum Wage Panel (‘the Panel’) increase the National Minimum Wage (‘NMW’) by $28 per week.
