Power at Work: Rebuilding the Australian Union Movement (2005)
For the past 100 years, Australian unions have played a key role in protecting and improving the wages and working condition of Australian employees. Now just 23% of the workforce is in unions and the union movement is under unprecedented political attack. In Power at Work, Michael Crosby documents the crisis facing the union movement and focuses on the central role of organising workplaces and industries in an evidence-based plan for renewal. He proposes an agenda which is hardheaded, practical and achievable, one based on the recent experiences of successful unions - unions where the membership numbers are going up.

Changing Australia: The Union Story CD (2005)
The following stories have been written with junior secondary students, our future citizens, in mind. They are stories of ordinary people who have found themselves in extraordinary circumstances, dealing with extraordinary events. They provide students with a range of viewpoints and perspectives, from people who were personally involved in events. The values inherent in the HSIE syllabuses, and the focus on active and informed citizenship, are reflected in these stories. They include the contributions of past and present people in our shared history, the concepts of ethical behaviour and social responsibility and they reflect a commitment to a more just and equitable society.

Drugs and Alcohol in the Workplace: Preliminary Impairment Assessment Training Program with CD (2007)
There are a range of factors that can lead to impairment of people at work and interfere with their ability to carry out their work safely. There has been a growing focus by employers on possible impairment at work arising from the use of alcohol and drugs, even though alcohol and drugs have not been shown to play a significant role in industrial accidents. What is needed instead is a better recognition and understanding of the most common causes of impairment at work and improved measures to eliminate or reduce them wherever possible. This package is designed to train worker representatives, such as a union delegate, elected health and safety representative or elected OHS committee worker representative, to be competent to perform a Preliminary Impairment Assessment.

Core Skills for Delegates Level 1: Training Program with Training Notes, Resources and CD (2011)
This is a three day delegates course that has been designed as the introductory level course for delegates throughout Australia and this is the course that the ACTU Organising Centre offers as the three day generic cross union program. We use the term ‘delegate’ to rfer to those members who are elected or appointed to represent members in their own workplace. We understood that various unions refer to the roles with a range of titles and encourage you to adapt the terminology to suit your context. Unions are welcome to use this kit as the basis for their own training program. We would encourage you to modify scenarios and language to fit your union. The course assumes that the Educator has a working knowledge of and practice in use of frameworks. These frameworks include Anger / Hope / Action, Handling Objections and the Talking Union framework. If you are unsure of how to apply these framework, the Organising Centre can provide assistance. ACTU Organising Centre staff are able to work with you to customise this course for the needs of your union, which can then be run by internal union educators or by ACTU Organising Centre staff.

Use it in conjunction with your Award or Enterprise Agreement, and any written Handbook or Guide for Delegates that may be available from your Union.
