TAA40104 Certificate IV in Training and Assessment - Bridging Program

This course is funded and supported by The Union Education Foundation (TUEF), an education trust of the ACTU, which works in partnership with the Organising Centre to deliver accredited qualifications. 
   

Who is it for?

This course is targeted to Educators working within unions or those planning to be involved in educating reps, activists and union officials.  These Educators already have Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198) and are looking to upgrade their BSZ Certificate IV to the new Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAA40104)

Our TAA Bridging Program offers an "assessment only via online" pathway to update your qualification to the nationally recognised Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Aims

  • Enhance the training and facilitation skills of union educators, including the planning and implementation of effective learning activities.
  • Provide sufficient learning and assessment opportunities to meet all requirements of the Certificate IV in Training and Assessment.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course, participants will be able to:
  • Understand the principles of adult education and active learning techniques and consider how they are applied to a union audience;
  • Design and develop learning programs and training sessions and practice the skills involved in delivering training sessions;
  • Carry out a training needs analysis for a group of union learners;
  • Develop strategies for dealing with behavior in the training room that adversely affect a safe learning environment;
  • Understand the VET system in Australia including competency based training and assessment, training packages and units of competency;
  • Examine one-to-one coaching / mentoring and work based learning;
  • Plan and implement assessment and participate in assessment validation.

Entry Requirements / Pre-requisites

Participants must be able to provide a verified copy of their Certificate IV in Assessment and Workplace Training (BSZ40198).

The Organising Centre will contact participants prior to commencement to verify their current competency and suitability for the TAA Bridging program.

Participants must possess adequate literacy and communication skills, have at least some workplace training and assessing experience and have access to required resources and training environments.
 

Course Content

In the TAA Bridging Course, the Organising Centre contacts participants to undertake a Recognition of Current Competence (RCC) process.  Once this process is successfully completed the participant is automatically granted 6 of the 14 units that make up the Certificate IV in TAA.

Participants then complete the remaining 8 units by completing 8 Assessment Projects online.

Participants can work at their own pace, completing the assessment projects in their workplace or any familiar work environment.

Assessment Projects

Participants are assessed via 8 Assessment Projects.

The projects include written questionnaires and case studies about VET and Training Packages, conducting an OHS assessment of a training environment, undertaking a mentoring relationship, developing assessment tools and participating in an assessment validation activity.

Participants need to successfully complete all 8 projects to complete the requirements for the full qualification. 

Duration

Participants have 12 months from the end date of the RCC process to submit all assessment tasks.

If participants need more time to to complete assessment projects, they may request an extension in writing.  To ensure currency of learning, participants will have a maximum of 2 years from the date of enrolment to complete their qualification.  After 2 years, if participants wish to complete outstanding work they must re-enrol and pay for the course again.

Distance Study can commence at any time during the year.

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) and Credit Transfer

Participants with previous training and/or experience may apply for RPL. Click here for more information and to obtain an RPL application.
Participants who have completed courses with equivalent / matching learning outcomes, will be granted credit transfer.
 

Where can Certificate IV in TAA take you?

At the completion of Certificate IV in TAA, the types of jobs and/or roles participants will be qualified to take up include:
  • Trainer.
  • Assessor

Pathways to other Qualifications

Participants successfully completing all 14 units are issued the Qualification. If a participant does not complete all units, a Statement of Attainment is issued detailing the units completed.
Participants who gain the Certificate IV in TAA qualification may go on to study the Diploma of Training and Assessment Systems.
 

Cost

Online Study: $600.00 per person (GST free) - (8 units at $75.00 per unit)
RPL: $800.00 per person (GST free) - (8 units at $100.00 per unit)
