Media Relations Officer

We need a Media Relations Officer in our Public Affairs team.  You need to have a strong commitment to worker’s rights, unionism and justice for working people.  We will provide a fast paced, dynamic, values driven work place where you will be able to see your work make a tangible difference

As part of the Public Affairs team, this role plays a key part in media engagement and liaison for the industrial, economic, social and political agenda of the ACTU and Australian Unions across broadcast, print and online media channels.

This role is responsible for the timely and accurate coordination of media relations including planning media communications, monitoring and evaluation of media communications. 

The Media Relations Officer is responsible for a wide variety of communications duties and material including:

-              Media liaison in consultation with other team members, managers and director/s 

-              Planning and executing proactive communications around government, NGO and departmental announcements, court decisions and affiliate campaigns   

-              Writing media releases 

-              Talking points for interviews

-              Speeches

The Media Relations Officer will work across the teams of the ACTU to support ACTU campaigns and policy positions and to gather the information they need to communicate through the media as directed. They will work with affiliated unions to ensure harmony of message and voice as much as is possible among a diverse range of stakeholders.
