The Independent Education Union Victoria Tasmania is seeking an Organiser based in Melbourne.

The focus of this position is to organise in Catholic and independent schools, effectively represent IEU members, and recruit new union members. Experience and knowledge of the non-government education sector is desirable.

The successful applicant will demonstrate the following:

• Commitment to trade unionism and a history of activism;
• Strong written and public speaking skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to deal sensitively with members, manage interactions with employers, and to work well in a small team;
• The ability to work under pressure including meeting deadlines and working in challenging environments.

Applicants must have a current Victorian driver’s licence. IEU officers are expected to perform some out of hours work.
