PRIMARY ROLE STATEMENT:
This is a position of trust. Reporting directly to the National Secretary, and the union leadership as required.
The position will support the leadership to develop strategy across the union, including aligning the industrial, political, and campaigning priorities of our Union. The Officer will drive internal communication, collaboration, and consistency of approach and messaging.
The role will coordinate the delivery of executive-level decisions, ensuring the necessary resources are allocated to meet our objectives.
This role will be responsible for maintaining political relationships with key government offices and departments. This includes ensuring that the National Secretary and Assistant National Secretaries are properly briefed and prepared for meetings. The role will work closely with the research and organising and research teams to deliver policy outcomes for members.
The Officer will maintain external relationships with strategic partners, including other trade unions, NGOs and industry.
This role will require interstate travel to State Branches of the Union and to Federal Parliament from time to time.
Decisions, actions, and behaviours are governed by our Code of Conduct and our Union Culture Charter and the delivery of our services to our members is aligned to the commitments outlined in our Strategic Plan and Operational Plan. All employees have an accountability to ensure work and conduct is aligned to these.
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
This position shall report directly to the National Secretary.
Other key relationships include the National President, National Assistant Secretaries, National Executive Officer and the Executive Assistant to the National Secretary.
The position will interact regularly with the Senior Coordinator of Legal and Research, Senior Coordinator of Organising and Campaigns, and the Senior Coordinator of Communications, State Secretaries, Organisers, ACTU (Australian Council of Trade Unions), Ministerial and Shadow Ministerial Offices, Departments, Senate, House and Joint Committees and ICN (Industry Capability Network).

SALARY AND CONDITIONS:
Depending on experience, the role is remunerated at $115,793.60 (Level 6 of the classification structure in the Wages and Conditions of Employment for Officials and Officers).
One RDO per month.
Provision of a union vehicle.
