Communications Officer

Job description

The purpose of this role is to work alongside the Branch Secretary, providing support to the organising and campaigns objectives of the RTBU.

This role takes a lead on digital and member communications, branch-related proactive and reactive media, and creates visual content through graphic design, member information bulletins, photography, and videography.

This is a Full-Time position, based in the Head Office, Level 4, 321 Pitt Street, Sydney NSW 2000.

Experience

  • Proven experience working with journalists and traditional media
  • Qualification and/or relevant experience in communications, social media, and marketing
  • Experience developing and implementing communications strategies

Knowledge, skills and abilities

  • Strong design skills, photo and video skills
  • Strong communication skills, including demonstrated ability to create online and offline materials for different audiences
  • Creativity and attention to detail
  • A self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Good IT skills, and experience with Adobe and/or Canva are desirable
  • Proactive & enthusiastic approach to work
  • A strong commitment to labour values
  • A demonstrated understanding of Union organising and the Australian political landscape
  • Driver’s licence required
