We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented National Trainer – Health and Safety Representative (HSR) to join our team at the National Team.

About the Role
This role provides high-quality training support across State Branches, delivering nationally consistent and compliant Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training programs.
The National Trainer will play a key role in strengthening workplace health and safety outcomes for AWU members by equipping delegates and HSRs with the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills to represent workers effectively.
The position requires regular travel across Australia and close collaboration with Branch officials, organisers, and delegates.

Key Responsibilities
• Deliver accredited HSR training programs in line with relevant WHS legislation across multiple jurisdictions
• Develop, review and continuously improve training materials to ensure consistency and best practice nationally
• Support Branches in the coordination and delivery of training programs and initiatives
• Mentor and support delegates and HSRs in applying training outcomes in the workplace
• Maintain compliance with accreditation requirements and regulatory standards
• Contribute to the broader AWU training strategy and capability development

About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
• Current accreditation to deliver Health and Safety Representative (HSR) training (essential)
• Strong knowledge of Australian workplace health and safety legislation and frameworks
• Experience delivering training in union, industrial, or adult education environments
• A commitment to trade union values, including solidarity, fairness, and collective strength
• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences
• Strong organisational skills and the ability to work across multiple projects and locations
• A willingness to travel nationally as required
