International Day Of Action On Iran

International - February 15, 2006

35 representatives from Australian unions and from the Iranian community protested in front of the Iranian embassy in Canberra on Wednesday 15th as part of the international campaign against the Iranian Government’s ongoing repression of striking bus drivers.

Speakers from the Maritime Union (MUA), Rail, Tram and Bus Union (RTBU), Transport Workers Union (TWU), Construction, Forestry, Mining and Energy Union (CFMEU) and the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU) called upon the Iranian Ambassador to send our message of protest to the President calling for the release of Marsour Osanloo and all other unionists still imprisoned in Tehran.

Unfortunately, the Ambassador would not receive a delegation.

The unions and representatives of the Australian Iranian community pledge to continue the campaign for trade union rights in Iran.
