Make a Difference for Doctors in NSW: Industrial Officer at The Doctors’ Union!

Are you passionate about workers’ rights and improving public healthcare? 

The Australian Salaried Medical Officers’ Federation (NSW) (The Doctors Union) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Industrial Officer to join our team on a fixed-term back fill contract, with potential full time ongoing, to champion the interests of doctors in NSW.

In this role, you’ll be a key player in:

  • Protecting doctors’ rights: Providing expert industrial advice, representation, and advocacy to our members.
  • Building a stronger union: Collaborating on strategies to recruit and retain members, develop leaders, and amplify the union’s voice.
  • Securing better outcomes: Participating in negotiations for better salaries, working conditions, and a more robust public health system.
  • Help shape the union’s future by contributing to strategic planning and policy development.

You’ll be a great fit if you have:

  • A strong commitment to union values and a passion for making a difference.
  • Minimum two years’ experience in industrial relations, including member representation.
  • Solid knowledge of industrial relations and NSW/national legislation.
  • Excellent research, analytical, and communication skills (written and verbal, including tribunal presentations).
  • The ability to manage time effectively, prioritise tasks, and meet deadlines.
  • A strong work ethic, initiative, and a willingness to learn and develop your skills and knowledge in industrial relations and advocacy.

We offer:

  • A salary range commencing from $117,725 per year to a maximum of $147,664 per year, depending on level of experience
  • Five weeks of annual leave and superannuation

The role is based in Ultimo and is full-time.
