Prime Minister Scott Morrison has announced today that his government will be bowing to pressure from big business and reopening the international border to temporary migrant workers from the 1st of December. There is no independent verification of labour shortages.

Christmas job projections hollow for increasingly insecure workforce

The Prime Minister’s projection of 280,000 jobs being created by Christmas – if proven correct – is a hollow promise if they follow current workforce trends with 60 per cent of post-pandemic jobs being insecure and workers working two or more jobs at higher rates than any other time since the ABS began keeping records.
