ACTU Member Connect Call Centre Organiser

ACTU Member Connect Call Centre has two positions currently available. If you are looking to work with a union, this could be the ideal opportunity to gain an understanding of organising and the issues facing Australian working people.

Job Purpose

The ACTU Call Centre can be the first point of contact for union members and non-members. Organisers are required to identify organising leads for unions; provide industrial and membership services information and advice to callers; and conduct member retention campaigns and polling/market research.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

  • Identify organising opportunities for Australian unions
  • Provide accurate advice and information to union members and non-members
    contacting the ACTU call centre
  • Refer callers on to the relevant union or service provider
  • Conduct ongoing polling and specific outbound market research campaigns
  • Some basic database development
  • Key Competencies

  • A demonstrable commitment to unions and social justice
  • An understanding of the industrial relations system in Australia
  • Research skills including Internet based research
  • IT literacy, Microsoft Access and advantage
  • A self starter and able to work without close supervision
  • The ability to work flexible hours
  • Experience and Education

  • Experience in a call centre or a union environment is highly desirable
  • Demonstrable activity with a union or other social justice organisation
  • Tertiary qualified or close to completion of under-graduate degree an
    advantage
  • There are 2 positions currently available, one permanent and one maternity leave position (6 months with a possible extension).
