CUB workers to walk off work, halt production

Media Release - August 25, 2016

The Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) will today join up to 100 working members from the Carlton & United Breweries Abbotsford Plant at a 3-hour paid stop work meeting to protest the

In June, the 55 workers from the AMWU and the ETU were sacked and then asked to reapply for their jobs with up to 65% less pay.

Up to 100 workers from United Voice and the CFMEU will stop work at 1pm today (25 August), which will halt production at the brewery for three hours, to join their sacked colleagues outside the
brewery.

When – 25 August 2016 from 1pm. Mass walkout of members in T-shirts at 1.30pm.

Who – Speeches by ACTU President Ged Kearney and other leading union officials. Some union members will be available to comment from 2pm.

Parking: Please note that parking will be limited prior to the rally. As such, there will be reserved parking spots for TV crews. Crews should arrive via South Audley St and make themselves known to traffic management where they will then be directed to reserved parking.”.
