National day of action: Hundreds to converge on Melbourne CBD to support Domestic Violence Leave

All media are invited to attend

8:45am– Action commences to support the ACTU’s case for 10 days paid family and domestic violence leave as a universal workplace right.

We will also pay tribute to the 66 women who have been killed by gendered violence in 2016. This tribute will be represented by 66 women dressed in black.

9:00am– Speakers, including family violence campaigner Rosie Batty, ACTU President Ged Kearney and Victorian Trades Hall Council Secretary Luke Hilakari.

9:15am – Press conference with Rosie Batty and Ged Kearney.

Events will also be held in Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, Hobart and Canberra. Media will be contacted by the relevant state-based unions.
