The NTEU is seeking applications for two new staff members in its policy and research team, based in the national office in Melbourne.

Both the positions are full time and require some interstate travel.

Duties include the provision of policy information, analysis and advice to all levels of the Union, advising on the development and implementation of Union policy and strategies, liaison with relevant bureaucracies, unions and other organisations, and conducting research and preparing written submissions and papers relevant to the membership. Particular abilities sought by the Union include:

  • Knowledge of public sector and/or higher education finance, with high-level
    skills in the analysis and interpretation of financial and labour market
    data.
  • Knowledge of issues facing women or indigenous people in the labour
    market.
  • Experience in advocacy and campaigns on public policy and social justice
    issues.
  • The successful candidates will have a commitment to trade unionism, experience and expertise in the research, development and implementation of public policy, as well excellent oral and written and communication skills. Knowledge of or involvement in the tertiary education sector would be an advantage.

    Salary and superannuation in the range of NTEU Level 6 ($59,073 – $64,761) or NTEU Level 7 ($67,296 – $74,013) depending on skills and experience.
