Statement from ACTU Secretary Assistant Secretary Liam O’Brien on shadow cabinet

The ACTU welcomes the announcement of the shadow cabinet and looks forward to working with the opposition over the next three years.

The ALP understands the need to reform our industrial relations system in order to improve the lives of working people.

The gender parity achieved in the shadow cabinet is a reminder of the gulf between the major parties on ensuring equal opportunity for women in politics.

The ACTU congratulates all shadow ministers and looks forward to working collaboratively with the team to create a more prosperous Australia for all people.
