Following their highly successful 2004 programme, with continued support from the Australian Council of Trade Unions and the AI Group, the Conference of Major Super Funds (CMSF) is today launching the 2006 Super Cadets recruitment drive.

There are over 30 cadetships on offer from industry super funds and public
sector super funds with positions available in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide,
Brisbane and Canberra.

Positions available will include marketing and communications, investment,
policy and research and client services.

The cadetships will be offered to people who want to “make a
difference”, have a social conscience and are energetic and resourceful.

People from all walks of life are invited to apply, including those already
in the workforce and graduate and post-graduate students from all disciplines.

Super Cadets are looking for candidates that “fit” with the
philosophy and ethos of industry funds and the broader “not for
profit” superannuation sector.

The Super Cadets programme is a response to a need for industry funds to
identify and develop the next generation of leaders from within their own ranks.

To date the success of not for profit funds has been their innovative
investment strategies and low marketing costs achieved through workplace
distribution rather than mainstream distribution channels.

In order to continue delivering a “net benefit” to members,
industry funds need to ensure that their leaders of tomorrow understand:

  • How not for profit funds are different from “for-profit” retail
    funds;
  • The importance of low fees to maximising the retirement income of
    Australians; and
  • How to leverage their competitive advantage achieved through the connection
    with the workplace.
