Media Release - March 23, 2005

HACSU has created a new position of Organiser; HACSU is the Victorian No.2 Branch of the Health Services Union representing employees in Victorias mental health, alcohol and drug and disability services.

The position is fulltime and is based in Melbourne.

The duties include:

  • Organising and supporting workplace delegates.
  • Training of members in the workplace.
  • Membership recruitment.
  • Researching and conducting negotiations.
  • Advocacy before the Industrial Relations Commission and other forums
  • Providing information and services to members.
  • The successful applicant will be highly motivated, capable of working
    autonomously in a complex and demanding environment. You will have well
    developed research, communication, advocacy and written skills, the ability to
    organise and plan work, and be computer literate.

    The successful applicant should have a strong commitment to the Union
    movement, hold a current driving license, be able to undertake country travel
    with some overnight stays and be prepared to carry out some out of hours
    organising of the membership.

    The Union offers an attractive salary package, which includes superannuation
    and the use of a motor vehicle.
