Melissa Donnelly - Secretary

Mel is the 11th Secretary of the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU). Before becoming Secretary, she served as National Secretary of the Community and Public Sector Union (CPSU), where she led campaigns to grow union membership, strengthen workplace delegate networks and improve the rights and conditions of public sector workers.

Mel first became active in the union movement through the fight against the Howard Liberal Government’s anti-worker laws and has spent her career advocating for fairness, equality and stronger rights for working people.

She is also a working parent who understands the everyday pressures facing Australian workers and families, and is committed to building a stronger, more powerful union movement that delivers lasting change.
