INTROUDCTION
Gender-based violence is one of the most prevalent human rights violations in the world. More than 35 per cent of women worldwide have experienced physical and/or sexual violence,1 and between 40 per cent and 50 per cent of women experience unwanted sexual advances, physical contact or other forms of sexual harassment at work.2
Violence against women, including family and domestic violence, intimate partner violence, sexual assault and sexual harassment, affects a significant number of working Australians.
Gender equality and the elimination of violence against women is a longstanding priority for the ACTU and its affiliated unions.
