Data shows toll of “let it rip” policies on workers

At least half a million workers lost hours or worked zero hours due to being forced into taking leave due to the “let it rip” policies that allowed Omicron to explode, according to ABS data released today. This was exacerbated by the Morrison Government’s failure to prepare and provide enough RATs or make them free and accessible.
Government looks on as 14,500 employers steal super

Three quarters (14,500) of employers subjected to an ATO compliance tests in 2020/21 had stolen superannuation from workers, according to figures tabled by the ATO in Senate Estimates today.
Joint statement on Disability Sector Support – COVID-19

Majority of workplaces not closing gender pay gap

Unions have won the abolishment of the $450 threshold for superannuation contributions, which took years of campaigning and will now stop $59 million being withheld from the superannuation of low paid workers every year.

Morrison ignores industries in crisis, tries to rush through dangerous Religious Discrimination Bill

Every worker has the right to a safe, healthy and respectful workplace, regardless of their religion, race, sexual orientation, sex, gender identity, disability, age or other personal attribute. The ACTU supports amending federal anti-discrimination law to protect workers from unlawful discrimination because of their religious beliefs or activities – this protection for workers could be easily achieved. Instead, the Morrison Government has introduced a confusing and divisive Bill which will increase discrimination against workers and make workplaces less safe.
