One year on from Myanmar’s military coup, the ACTU has joined with Human Rights Watch, Australian Council for International Development, the Australian Centre for International Justice, the Refugee Council of Australia, and Publish What You Pay to call on the Morrison Government to impose sanctions on Myanmar’s military leaders and their business interests.

The Hong Kong Confederation of Trade Unions (HKCTU) has been forced to disband as a consequence of the persistent attacks on its activities, and intimidation and harassment of its members by security forces and the judiciary for exercising trade union rights and civil liberties.
The ACTU stands in solidarity with the HKCTU and the people of Hong Kong in their struggle for democracy.
